Katoomba Slow

A slower way to stay in the Blue Mountains.

Tucked away in the heart of Katoomba, our restored miner’s cottage is a thoughtfully considered space to settle in and feel completely at home.

The village cafés, little shops and train station are all within walking distance. Spend your days exploring the Mountains, wandering into town or simply enjoying the pleasure of nowhere in particular to be.

A Little Cottage with a Story

Our little cottage was built for miners in the 1880s and originally stood near Katoomba Falls. In the 1890s, it was moved closer to town, to the spot where it stands today.

By the time we found it, it had been sitting empty for more than thirty years. We’re both romantics with a soft spot for Australian history, and we could still see its charm beneath all those years of wear.

It turns out that restoring a little weatherboard cottage is a rather good fit for a timber boatbuilder. Ian brought his craft to the restoration, even making the kitchen by hand from reclaimed boat timbers.
